After a whirlwind week that had the media buzzing about Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise daughter Suri's 1 a.m. dinners, playing with penis-shaped candies and still being allowed to use a pacifier, Katie finally speaks out.

When approached at the John Frieda Precision Foam Colour event last night in NYC, actress and mom Katie responded "no" when asked if she was tired of her parenting being critiqued. She added, "Suri is doing great, thank you."

  1. Sounds like she doesn't want anyone's advice on what not to do e.g., dildo candy, keeping the child awake at 1:00 AM, constantly feeding said child with sweets, clothes that are not inclement to the weather, that horrid pacifier etc.

I don't care how cute Suri is. Katie is doing enough to ruin that child and set her up for failure.

  2. I love Suri and this is Suri's blog, not her mom.

  4. How do you "love" a child you don't know? That's very strange. Suri is a cute little girl, but what the first poster said is true. She's not being parented properly and unfortunately, as she grows up, thats going to be a very big problem. Frankly, I think Katie and Tom (lets not forget him) are BOTH to blame, but I think its Katie, more so, because she's going along with the Scientology way of raising children rather than thinking for herself. Katie really should try thinking for herself.....no matter how much money Tom hands her. I hate when people on gossip sites say nasty things about Suri. She's just a child. It's her parents who are incapable idiots. Poor Suri. She's going to suffer for her parent's stupidity.

  5. The way Katie is reacting in my opinion, is ignoring the issues at hand. Just saying plain "No" when asked if you get annoyed with all the parenting criticism, or just saying "Suri is doing fine, thank you." is clearly saying that she don't like being asked about Suri. Why? Because she is annoyed at the criticism..she IS angry at the tabloids, the media in general.

In this case, both she and Tom need parenting guidance. If they were not rich and powerful, Suri would be taken away and put into foster care. I wish that would happen anyway. Charlie Sheen got his kids taken away, why not Katie and Tom? Clearly there is a lot of neglect going on, which to me is a form of abuse. The child needs to be brought up in a normal home..with a set bedtime, healthy eating habits and change of wardrobe. It's not too late..it's really not. She's only 5.

  6. I found this article quite ridiculous. Life&Style isn't a magazine that I support, and after buying it I'm reminded of exactly why. While I think it's appalling, that this child was out so late, the better half of the magazine was grasping at straws. There is nothing wrong with a child using the bottle/paci at this age. It only becomes a problem if it is continued after the adult teeth grow in. My daughter is almost three and is still breastfed by our nanny. And guess what? She's completely normal, healthy, smart.... A beautiful little lady! My only concern is the lack of stability in Suri's life...she probably doesnt even know her own bed.

  7. Allthough I DO NOT APPROVE the things described on the mag, i do believe Suri is a happy little girl therefore i'm not so worried about the parenting...for now.

  8. In other countries drinking milk from a bottle till 5-6 is not an issue. And maybe the cruise is setting 1 time zone for Suri, it maybe 1am in some place but is actually 6pm for their home time zone

  9. Katie did not take Suri out every night, ok?

  10. I don't blame her for answering that way. Of course any mother will be annoyed at having her parenting skills questioned, whether or not the questioning is valid.

The time zone thing could be valid, though. They've been traveling around so much, it's not entirely unlikely that Suri's jetlagged.

  11. Come on people... Suri is just a child and she seems very happy, so why are we judging her parents?? I have no idea what it is to raise a child in front of millions of people and being watched every move. There will always be criticism, so leave the parents alone. Plus, this is their lifestyle (running from place to place) and good for them that they can make their child happy by protecting her (as much as they can) and avoid questions like that.

  12. They need to leave Katie alone. The candy was wrong, I understand that but people need to stop criticizing her so much

  13. A child being breastfed by a nanny until 3, cmon! thats just twisted! Breastfeeding is an intimate bond shared between a mother and a child, i wud rather bottlefeed my child and hold her close than have someone else nurse her. its another thing that ur doing that, but until 3 wow! i dont doubt ur child is beautiful and smart, but that kinda maternal instincts is just wrong!

  16. The reason why Life & Style is called a gossip magazine is just that, it's GOSSIP. Paparazzi are top paid for the photos that they can take in scrutinizing positions. Let's remember that folks, Suri is well taken care of or the proper authorities would be launching an investigation. Tom and Kate are not untouchable like some might want to believe.
